About the speaker
Laura Elson has worked in volunteer involvement for almost 20 years and now works as an independent consultant specialising in supporting organisations to build ambitious and cohesive volunteer strategies that build movements around a cause.
Laura has worked in volunteer leadership roles at a number of grassroots organisations, Volunteer Centre Leeds, Parkinson’s UK, and England Netball. In 2015 she worked with Nesta and NCVO to research, test and develop prison based volunteer centres and in 2018 set up a consultancy to focus on volunteering strategy projects full time. As a consultant she has helped a wide range of organisations develop innovative volunteer strategies including Kinship, The Marine Conservation Society, England Netball, The Churches Conservation Trust, The Solicitors’ Charity, The Peak District National Park Authority and the MS Society.
Laura is an Associate Consultant with NCVO, Consultants for Good and Fair Development. She volunteers as Strategic Lead for Volunteering with Yorkshire Netball, and as a trustee of Getting on Board, the national trustee recruitment and diversity charity.
