Three members of the Vision for Volunteering Team - Laura, Sarah and Su

Meet Laura, the Vision for Volunteering Lead, Sarah, who will be leading on learning and storytelling, and Su, who will be leading on networks and engagement.

The new Vision Team are in place, and we couldn’t be happier to be here! Our mission is to inspire people to adopt the Vision for Volunteering and make it a reality in communities across England. Over the next year we’ll be bringing the Vision to you, developing practical resources and tools, building a community to champion the Vision and sharing stories of the brilliant things you are doing to make the Vision a reality.

Despite all being new in post, we are mindful that we are building on the hard work of those who have gone before us. More than 350 people from over 300 organisations contributed to the development of the Vision in 2021 and 2022, and many are already doing brilliant work off the back of it. And of course, there are also the partners who are helping to drive the Vision along: NCVO, NAVCA, AVM, Volunteering Matters and Sport England. At its heart, the Vision is a partnership – something for the voluntary sector by the voluntary sector – and we will continue to be led by you as we move forward.

There are challenges ahead as we seek to make volunteering more diverse, innovative, ambitious and person-centred. Change takes time, and what seems like it might work now might not work in two or three years’ time. But with challenges come huge opportunities: to build on the volunteering momentum from Covid-19, to take advantage of more flexible ways of working and to make meaningful changes for the years to come.

Our first priority as a team is to talk to as many people as possible about what the Vision means for you, how you can practically implement it and what support you need to make that happen. Watch this space for a series of local roadshow events that we’ll be launching ready for the summer period. This will be a mixture of online and local events all across the country.

To kick off our events programme, we’ll be hosting some drop-in ‘tea breaks’ where you can meet the team, tell us about your work and ask any questions you might have. The first of these will be held on Wednesday 17th May from 11am-12noon – https://ncvo.zoom.us/j/85733694666.

The Vision is a ten-year plan to take us through to the year 2032 – and this is only the beginning! We would love for you to join us on this journey.
